About us

Made to measure since 2011

The largest Czech made-to-measure clothing brand.

Jakub Lohniský, founder of Le Premier

Our story

Le Premier didn't start out as what it is today — and few people know that. Before we ever had a store, we ran a premium shirt-cleaning service, complete with our own delivery. But demand never really took off. Instead of bringing in new shirts to launder, clients kept asking whether we could make the shirts ourselves. And so, in July 2011, a small store opened in the Pánská pasáž arcade in Prague.

Shirts first, then suits, coats, shoes. Today we offer an entire made-to-measure wardrobe — from a classic suit to a bomber jacket or sneakers. The road wasn't straight. We grew fast, expanded into shopping centers and into Slovakia. Then Covid hit and the company effectively went under. We went through a reorganization and started again.

Le Premier came out of all this stronger and more modern — focused solely on what it does best: clothing made precisely for you, for the price of better ready-to-wear.

Today we are the largest Czech made-to-measure clothing brand. And we still love what we do.

History

From a fashion blog to the largest Czech made-to-measure brand.

  1. 2008

    The Muži v Česku blog

Jakub Lohniský starts a menswear blog and becomes one of the first Czech men's fashion bloggers.

  2. 2011

    Le Premier is born

In July 2011 Jakub opens Le Premier — a 35 m² store in the Pánská pasáž arcade in Prague. The goal is clear: to change how Czech men think about fashion. He starts with shirts only.

  3. 2012

    Loake shoes and made-to-measure suits

Jakub partners with the English shoemaker Loake and begins selling these iconic shoes in the Pánská pasáž. Le Premier adds made-to-measure suits to its range.

  4. 2013

The first Loake store in Eastern Europe

In April, the first standalone Loake store in Eastern Europe opens. Le Premier moves to a larger space, still in the Pánská pasáž.

  5. 2015

    Expansion beyond Prague

The first store outside Prague opens — in Brno on Orlí street. The same year brings the decision to expand into shopping centers.

  6. 2016

    Shopping centers

The first shopping-center stores open — at Chodov in Prague, in Hradec Králové, at Vaňkovka in Brno and in Ostrava.

  7. 2018

    Expansion to Slovakia

Le Premier enters Slovakia, opening a large store in the Aupark center in Bratislava.

  8. 2019

    A record year

By year's end Le Premier has a turnover of 100 million Kč, sells nearly 3,000 made-to-measure suits a year and passes the mark of 10,000 tailored shirts annually.

  9. 2020

    Covid and the fall

The Covid era begins in March. Le Premier effectively goes under — the company can't survive 11 months of closed stores and wedding restrictions in two consecutive years.

  10. 2021

    Reorganization

At the end of the year Le Premier enters reorganization, formally completed in March 2023. By the end of this period Jakub Lohniský once again becomes the company's sole owner and sets out to restart it.

  11. 2022

    The brand restarts

Thanks to a partnership with one of the world's largest made-to-measure clothing manufacturers, the restart succeeds.

  12. 2023

    Partnership with SK Slavia Praha

Le Premier becomes the exclusive supplier of formalwear to the biggest football club in the Czech Republic.

  13. 2026

Our team

The people of Le Premier

Jakub Lohniský

Founder & Director

Before I started making suits, I co-founded the marketing agency Relative PR and wrote the successful blog Muži v Česku — one of the first Czech blogs about men's fashion.

That blog sparked the idea to try something I had always cared about: changing how Czech men think about dressing. I'm an endless fan of SK Slavia Praha, but I dress my friends from the other side of the river too. Except, of course, in the week before the derby.

I'll be glad to meet you at our store in the Černá růže Passage in Prague.

Head Tailor

We play fair

Le Premier offers the middle ground between ready-to-wear and a bespoke tailor — you choose the fabric, we take your measurements and adjust the cut to your body. It isn't traditional tailoring with endless fittings. It's modern, fast and accessible made-to-measure. Without question better than ready-to-wear or an average tailor. But...

We value honesty. Made to measure isn't for everyone.

Our service works best for standard body types (up to size 70 — jacket and trousers). For larger sizes (72 and up) or significant body asymmetries, we recommend a traditional tailor with a bespoke approach.
